Requirements for Studying Medical Laboratory Science
There are some requirements you must fulfill before being offered admission to study Medical Laboratory Science at any Nigeria University.

Subject Combination / JAMB UTME Requirements for Studying Medical Laboratory Science
In UTME, please note that the English Language is Compulsory for this course. Therefore, the three (3) other JAMB UTME subject combinations needed to study Medical Laboratory Technology / Science under the Faculty of Medical, Pharmaceutical & Health Sciences in the above Universities include;
Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) BABCOCK accepts any three (3) of Physics, Chemistry Biology, and Mathematics
O’Level Requirements
The O’level subject combination and requirements needed to study Medical Laboratory Technology / Science;
You require; Five (5) SSC credit passes in English Language, Mathematics Physics, Chemistry, and Biology
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) AAU accepts B.Sc in the relevant programme with a good grade. Remedial results are not acceptable.
(ii) UNICAL – same as in Medicine and Surgery.
(iii) UI accepts five (5) ‘0’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, and Biology at one (1) sitting
Direct Entry Requirements
These are the conditions you need to fulfill to gain Direct Entry admission to study Medical Laboratory Technology / Science if you don’t intend to use UTME.
You require; ‘A’ level passes to include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology or Zoology
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (WAIVER) REMARKS:
(i) ABUAD requires three (3) ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry, Physics, Biology/Zoology.
(ii) BUK accepts Diploma in Medical Laboratory Science from a recognized institution.
(iii) UNIBEN – Same as in Medical Biochemistry. Accepts degrees in related Science programmes.
(iv) UNICAL accepts ‘A’ level passes in any two (2) of Chemistry, Biology and Physics, B.SC Biological Science; AIMLT or FIMLT plus UTME requirements.
(v) EBSU accepts AIMLS or its equivalent plus relevant UTME requirements
(vi) UI accepts ‘A’ level passes to include Physics, Chemistry, and Biology B.Sc. or HND in the relevant programme; AIMLT or FIMLT plus UTME requirements.
(vii) UNIJOS accepts first degrees in relevant Biological Science programme with at least a Second class lower division.
(viii) UNILAG requires
a) JUPEB/’A’ level passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
b) B.Sc Degree First Class/Second class upper in medically related programmes.
(ix) LAUTECH accepts ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology with the UTME requirements OR ND/HND upper credit or first degree in relevant programme plus the UTME requirements.
(x) UNIMAID accepts certificate of Institute of Medical Laboratory Technology, Science/Technology (IMLS/T) of Nigeria plus the UTME requirements. (xi) MAIDUGURI accepts Zoology in lieu of Biology.
(xii) NDU requires five (5) ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, and Physics.
(xiii) UNIZIK accepts HND/B.SC in Biological Sciences or related programme
(xiv) UNN accepts
a) B.Sc in relevant programmes with at least second 2nd class Lower Division plus ‘O’ level credit passes in English Language, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at not more than two (2) sittings.
b) ND upper credit in related programmes plus the UTME requirements
